Public Viewing Spots

Lake Fork
The most popular spots for eagle watching from land around Lake Fork are:
Site A) The Dam at the south east end of the lake. Eagles roost south of the dam along Lake Fork Creek, so very early morning and again at dusk is a prime time to watch eagles passing from the lake, heading to their evening roost. Often there will be feeding activities going on in the area of the dam. Watch for eagles perched in trees along the river and lake during the day.
An active nest has been discovered in this area, it sits several hundred yards into the trees opposite the dam, just southwest of Lake Fork Creek.
Site B) From the Highway 154 bridge and in Sabine River Authority park on the north end of the bridge provides easy access to see vast areas of the lake where the eagles can be present.

The darker water areas of the Lake Fork map are prime locations that can be viewed by boat. Concentrate eagle searches in the coves and inlets in this area. But eagles can be seen soaring anywhere over the lake especially along tree lines, perched at the tops of tall trees or sitting on top of the tree trunks half submerged along the lakes shores.

The official count of eagles on Lake Fork in 2006 was 51 birds.
