Public Viewing Spots

Muskegon Wastewater System
The entrance to the wastewater facility is off Maple Island Road north of Apple Avenue. A daily or yearly pass is required and can be had at the headquarters building.

Bald Eagles as well as Golden Eagles can be spotted throughout the property, but most eagles will be spotted roosting in the trees around the 2 main ponds on the property, or on the ice when the ponds are frozen. The eagles are present from December thru February depending on weather conditions, but during these months they are very regular visitors. Often small groups of eagles can be seen eating prey together on the ice covered ponds.
Driving the roads throughout the property, keeping close watch on the top half of trees, on sprinkler equipment and pylons will also uncover perched eagles.

There are many immature eagles so pay particular attention to all dark shadows lurking in the trees.

For recent sighting updates and additional information, an excellent resource is the Muskegon County Nature Club website.
